A friendly workshop with small numbers and a great comfortable environment, the workshop is held at Threads and Tales in Thornton Le Dale.

A sketchbook can be used as a journal of places you've visited or a record of your memories. It is a useful habit to have to underpin your next stage of painting a picture. Here we aim to give you some tips and ideas and also show you how a wide range of media can assist in your sketches, developing your creative ideas .
Some of the day may be outdoors weather permitting and is a local a short walk from the classroom and therefore be prepared for the weather and we shall choose areas of beauty in Thornton Le Dale and hopefully shall enhance your visit here. Alternatively any sign of rain or cold weather then we have some local photos and pictures to work from.
A great opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials and there will be a free gift sketchbook and special graphite to get to continue with the development of your sketching skills.
The act of sketching forces a slower and deeper look at the environment, helping you notice details, light, and form that you may otherwise overlook.
Please bring an A5 or A4 sketchbook and some pencils, 2B and 4B to get started, there will be lots of other media available for you to try out.
